Overview

Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri was founded durring the early 14th century in winter of the year 1317, by Shêyënho. The establishment of Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri was built using the conventions of Wood Elf durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri is is constructed arround a series of restrictive cobblestone mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The city rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. The city's millitarily questionable fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the citys defences.

A look around Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable. A second look around Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri makes it abundantly clear the city suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had.

History

Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri is still bloodied by a recent violent conflict. A crushing bandit raid, a lost siege, getting caught at the periphery of a major battle, or some other calamity has inflicted severe damage on the place. Some communities may suffer a longer-term version of this, their youths lost in a grinding, endless battle against some perpetual threat.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri lost 106 people, 383 livestock, and 85 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 76, when members of Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri's militia enacted an operation to defend a particular expert, and ensure they remain out of enemy hands. The operation was complicated by a trusted officer who turned traitor and defects. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in a stalemate for Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Ke̜f-ëfromë Gri's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
